Volunteers are inspirational, we want to say a big “thank you”
Cabinet members of South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse district councils have offered their thanks and gratitude to the thousands of inspirational volunteers across both districts ahead of volunteers’ week.
To mark the 40th anniversary of annual Volunteers’ Week, which takes place from 3 – 9 June, the councils will be taking the “time to say thanks” and highlighting the invaluable contribution volunteers make to community groups and voluntary organisations across South Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse.
Cllr Councillor Georgina Heritage – Cabinet Member for Communities, South Oxfordshire District Council said:
“Volunteers – you make such a difference, and you inspire others to do the same. I want to thank all of you who give your time to help children and vulnerable residents and those who work with heritage, nature and the environment. You make such a positive and lasting impact on those around you.
“As a council we’ll continue to work alongside these fantastic local organisations through our grant schemes and our SO Charitable Lottery.”
Cllr Helen Pighills, Cabinet Member for Community Health and Wellbeing, Vale of White Horse District Council said:
“I meet many people who give their time and expertise to help others, and they are a true inspiration to me. I’m proud to celebrate local volunteers who make such an incredible difference to peoples’ lives and communities.
“We, as a council work alongside many organisations who support local communities and facilitate volunteering opportunities. Through our White Horse Community Lottery and community grants we can further support voluntary organisations and community initiatives which have a beneficial impact on the local community.”
